Debbie Anderson

Debbie Anderson was raised in Terre Haute. Ten years ago she moved to Park County. She has a degree in Art Education and Physical Education, and has been teaching physical education for the Vigo County Schools for sixteen years. She is currently on her sixth year at Lost Creek Elementary School.

In the fall of 1999 after taking inlaid wood art lessons from Charlie Girton, she fell in love with the medium "wood" and has been creating inlaid art since November of 1999. She designs doors, murals, portraits and abstract pieces. She is presently designing 5 front doors and an Iraq war mural which she hopes to complete over summer vacation.

In 2005 Anderson received a degree in Art Education. Anderson is a member of the Covered Bridge Art Association, Arts Illiana, and the Wabash Valley Art Guild. Joe and Debbie Anderson are also members of the Bridgeton United Methodist Church. Anderson currently has works on display at "Arts Illiana."

Concurrently for over twenty years Anderson's hobbies included running, biking, and swimming. She competed in the "Ironman Triathlon" in Hawaii and won a gold medal in the Masters 800 meter run in Australia. While Anderson no longer competes in these events, she still does them on a regular basis to stay healthy and to be a good role model.
