Kyma Drake

Kyma Drake was born in Rushville, Indiana but grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1980 she moved back to Indiana with her family. Kyma has truly loved art since she was very small, and art class was always her favorite.

While working towards a nursing degree, she decided to persue the arts as a career and went into graphic design. Drake graduated from Sheffield School of Interior Design in 1997. Kyma contiued her education and in 2006 graduated from Ivy Tech with a degree in Visual Communications. While she was there Drake became interested in photography. Photography became a new and exciting adventure for her, and it paid off.

In 2005, she entered a still life photograph in the Wabash Valley Art Guild Spring Art Exhibit and took home first place. She also received several awards in County Fairs for her photography. Winning those various awards has given a broadened scope of the types of art she develops. She works in all kinds of mediums including photography; watercolor, acrylic, oils, pencil, mixed media and she even tried ceramics.

While working in a variety of mediums, she started a greeting card ministry called, Butterfly Blessings. She makes the greeting cards and sends them out to anyone in need of encouragement. Interested persons can contact Kyma Drake with the name of the person in need of a card, their address and reason for the card. Kyma feels her ministry cards help to bless others with her art, and words of encouragement in their time of need. Drake feels that, “God inspires my art and being able to bless others is so rewarding.”
