Jim McMullen
Jim is a retired research scientist, consultant, teacher, and realtor who has done photography for family and friends for many years. In the last few years, he has had more time to devote to photography and has entered and received awards in shows and exhibitions. He has many interests, but his primary subjects are nature, landscape, historical subjects, old cars, and architecture.
His scientific laboratory experience and skills lent themselves to his early wet chemistry film developing and printing, but those techniques have gradually been replaced with digital methodology.
He currently uses a 35 mm digital single-lens reflex camera and a large format digital printer combined with Adobe Photoshop software to customize images. He uses acid-free matting and UV protective glass with complimentary framing to finish the piece of art. In an effort to create a different "look," he produces photographs with a soft matte watercolor-like appearance. With a side interest in woodworking, he also makes some of his frames, easels, and display racks.
He has entered pieces in the Irvington Gallery Juried Art Show in Indianapolis, the Krempp Gallery Juried Art Show in Jasper, the Honeywell Center Juried Photography Show in Wabash, the Lakeland College Photography Show in Mattoon, the Covered Bridge Art Association Associates Show in Rockville, the Midwest Juried Photography Show in Paris, and the Swope Art Museum Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition, the Wabash Valley Art Guild Spring Show, the Halcyon Gallery Juried Art Show, and the Arts Illiana Gallery Collection in Terre Haute.
He has pieces for sale at Raven Gallery and Titzer Art Studios in Terre Haute.
