Leigh Schinaia
I work mainly with 35mm film photography. Mainly because I like getting back to basics, before everything became so digital. Though I use a digital camera time and again, my main camera is an old 1975 Canon EOS 35mm. This camera, though very old, takes extraordinary pictures with my few telephoto lenses.
I also use quite frequently a Canon RebelG EOS 35mm, which I used on my adventure to New Zealand in the summer (their winter) of 2002. I often tell people that I tried to capture some of the magic of NZ and take it home, with my 800+ photographs. It took me over 2 years to get enough money to finally have them all developed and worth every cent.
I graduated in 2006 from Indiana University with a major in Telecommunications (i.e. TV production). There I based my education in working with live action camera work at IU's PBS affiliate. I also helped in production our annual "Multi-visions 2006" conference. During that event, I mainly worked on
assembling/filming/graphics for the awards ceremony. I enjoyed my time at IU, but I won't miss the tests!
Photography, in the beginning, became for me a way to capture a piece of time. Then, I began to enjoy being able to convey feelings through the
lens, and hopefully some art along with it. I generally photograph landscapes, but have become interested in insects, and the unusual lately. I also enjoy photographing aquatic birds.
I joined the Wabash Valley Art Guild after my mother had become a member. Though, a new member, I hope my work honors the long standing of the WVAG. I have been a member since the summer of 2006.
