August Meeting
The August 12th Meeting will be at the Arts Illiana in Terre Haute
at 6:00pm
Happy Fourth of July to everyone.
On June 10th we had a very successful meeting at Arts Illiana. We had more members attend our meeting than we have had for several months - it was very nice to see everyone. We had a "good" carry-in dinner and great social time to visit. It also gave us an opportunity to see the art work at Arts Illiana. Ed Holloman gave us an oil painting demonstration that was full of valuable information.
We will not have a July meeting. It was discussed that a paint-out at Debbie Anderson's home during the month of July; however that has been canceled due to scheduling difficulties.
The Saratoga mural will be started on July 17th. All those interested in painting on the mural are to put on their paint clothes and grab their brushes and get to the Saratoga on the 17th. The August 12th meeting will be held at Arts Illiana at 6 pm. We will have a carry-in dinner at 6 pm and program at 6:45. The program will consist of Laura Mason critiquing everyone's work. Bring a covered dish and a piece of artwork for Laura to critique.
The July Artist of the Month is Jeanette Ellingsworth - Photography. July 2nd's edition of the Tribune Bash has a great article about Jeanette and her work. Plus some very nice photos. Don't miss reading it and visit the library to see her work exhibited.
The Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau July exhibit - John Fuller - Photography
July 23 - August 20 is the Annual Midwest Photography Juried Exhibition, with reception July 23 at the Bicentennial Art Center in Paris IL.-
The Historical Museum of Terre Haute (478-1686 - Marie Pontius) will have a Farrington Fest on the Museum grounds on August 29, 2010.
July 11-17 will be the Vigo County Fair. For a mere $5.00 you can exhibit as many pieces of art work as you like. Several of our members did this last year and had a good time. Try it - you might like it!
I have had several people saying that they are not getting their copies of Sketchy Details. I am really sorry and want to correct any errors in the sending process. For the addresses I use the ones given to Jim McMullen when you pay your yearly fees. If that particular address changes or is wrong in some way I am lost!!! Artist of the Month
- Artist of the Month info: Jeanette Ellingsworth is the 'Artist of the Month for July' and will have several pieces of her art displayed at the Vigo County Public Library. Along with the exhibit at the library, Jeanette gets to have an article in The Tribune Star about her work. In order to be considered for Artist of the Month, your dues must be paid. Please read further info below to find out how to be invovled in Artist of the Month.

Sue would like to let everyone know what she is hoping to accomplish with 'Artists of the Month' articles. She can also explain what you need to do to get invovled.
Each artist may hang two pieces and information
about the painting/work at the side. The person you will be contacting at the
library is the Community Services
Director Chris Shellenberg. Have your exhibits at the library a day or two
in advance of the first of the month; and at that time learn when to return to
retrieve your art.
If you know ahead of time that you cannot, for whatever
reason, be the 'Artist of the
Month,' Please contact Sue in plenty of time to get someone else. Sue may be reached at # or email at suejblume at yahoo dot com. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Covered Bridge Art Association in Rockville

The Covered Bridge Art Association in Rockville mailed out to some artists that there is a change for the Associate Members. (Associate Members are those who do not live in Parke County.)
Associate members are entitled to attend monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month, participate in their programs, serve on commitees and do volunteer work. They are also eligilbe to enter two paintings in the annual Associates Show held each July and this year there will be monetary prizes. The dues are $15. If you have any questions please call Delores.
