JULY
I know it is not time for Sketchy Details already; however we are going to try something new. We are going to be doing the Sketchy Details a few days after the meeting. The major purpose of our newsletter is to keep everyone knowledgable about the activities of the Art Guild and its members. So in order to keep everyone up to date with the decisions and activities planned at our meetings we are going to be sending the newsletter closer to the time of the meetings. I hope this is agreeable with everyone!
Our major discussion at this month's meeting was "Art in the Park" It will be July 30th at the Lion's Shelter 1 in Deming Park from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Ed Holloman has graciously agreed to bring the band "Second Wave" and entertain us and our visitors for the afternoon. (Ed will play in the band) Several members have signed up to be there; however we still have plenty of space for everyone wanting to spend a pleasant afternoon with fellow artists. It will probably be hot so bring a fan. There will be electrical outlets in the shelter. Originally we were going to have a carry-in lunch, but not enough people expressed interest, so simply bring your own drinks and some snacks to share with the others.
JoAnn has talked to the owner of the Northwest Territory Art Gallery in Vincennes and they would like our work to be hung during their August Show. JoAnn will deliver our work for us and pick it up on August 29th if you bring it to her during "Art in the Park" She asks that it be wrapped and ready for transporting and it must have your Name, Title, Medium and price on it ready to hang. If sold while in the show the Gallery will charge 20 percent. The opening night will be August 5th at the Gallery.
We are having a picnic in August. It will be held at Billie Creek Village on the 13th of the month from 4 - 8 pm. The Art Guild will provide the meat, cups, plates and flatware. Members A-L bring salads or covered dishes and M-Z bring desserts. You should bring your own drinks and maybe chairs.
The Paris Fall Showcase is coming up very fast. The delivery of your work will be August 30th, 31, and September 1 during business hours. You will be responsible to deliver and pick up your own work. We will be hanging the show Sept 1st at 3 pm. Pick up is October 11th and 12th during business hours.
Edward and JoAnn would like to start a mailing list for the Art Guild. They are asking us to provide them with our list of persons or organizations that have purchased our work or people we would like to have notified of our events. The list would be shared with members for the person all shows and events plus the Art Guild events. E-mail address or mailing address of your contacts should be given to them during our September meeting.
We will have a show at the Community Theater from October 13th thru the 30th. Our October meeting will be on October 13th at the Community Theater. After the meeting we will hang the show. Pick up will be October 30th at 4 pm. JoAnn wants Name, title, medium and price of your work by October 1st.
No meeting in August (picnic time) and the next meeting will be September 8th, 6 pm at the library.
We have lots to do ---- Don't miss it!
